SCDA ONE ACT REHEARSALS
Mondays and Thursdays from 9th January
at 16 Park Avenue.
NEW PHOTOGRAPHS ADDED
Thanks to Erica Donald , we have yet
more new additions to the "Past
productions" section. For the first time, we have photographs for the 1951
production of four one act plays. Other additions for the 1950s include new
photos for "Blithe Spirit", "Lace on her Petticoat",
"Charity Begins" and "Champagne for Breakfast". We also have
two "new" reviews for "Wasn't it Odd?" and, best of all, a
review of our very first production in 1937. Click on Past
Productions to have a look.
However, we still have a large number of productions with no photographic "evidence". If any former members out there have anything tucked away
in scrapbooks, we'd love to hear from you.
"NEW"
VENUE FOR 2011 FRINGE
PRODUCTION
Douglas Currie devised this year's
Fringe production (subject - W.S. Gilbert). Unfortunately, thanks to the demise of Diverse Attractions at Riddles Court
(being closed for refurbishment) we were forced to find a new venue -
Mayfield Salisbury Church Hall. Of course, this venue is not completely
"new", as we have performed there many times in the past, most notably
when we staged three productions back in 1982.... (those were the days!)
MERCATORS AT ABBOTSFORD!
Yes, thanks to an invitation from the
Abbotsford Trust (who now run Sir Walter Scott's house in the borders), the
club was to have performed Abbotsford Revisited at Abbotsford House on
Friday 3rd December in Scott's library. Unfortunately, the performance had to be
postponed due to inclement weather, but will be re-arranged for next year. Watch
this space!
2010 FESTIVAL FRINGE
We are pleased to announce that after
last year's disappointing attendances, Abbotsford Revisited
enjoyed a much better response at the box office and was very well received by
audiences. A selection of photos can now be seen in the past productions section.
PHOTO RESTORATION PROJECT
The photographs and images on the site
are currently undergoing a restoration project using an image editing programme
which was not available to the webmaster when the site was created in 2006.
Previous visitors to our site will notice a gradual improvement which will
eventually extend to all the photos and images on the site. An example can be
seen on our new look home page.
2009 FESTIVAL FRINGE
Our tribute to the Brontės, Averse
to Personal Publicity started its run with good audiences, but numbers disappointingly
fell later in the week. We also received some unkind comments from the
gentleman of the press, including one review which was positively ageist!
