2008 FRINGE

Our annual venture into the Edinburgh Festival Fringe recently ended with a successful and enjoyable production of J.M. Barrie - Beyond Neverland, devised by Douglas Currie. Although we never reached the magic "full house", attendances were very good. Audience reaction was warm and responsive and we had the bonus of a three star review from The Scotsman. That review, plus a number of photos (which will be added to) can now be found in "Past Productions". Were we also pleased to have Chris Pearson with us for the first time. Our week at Diverse Attractions ended, as has become the custom, with a fine meal at the Braid Burn Inn.

DAVID FORSON

We were saddened to hear of the death at a nursing home on January 16th of one of our former members, David Forson. David was actively involved with the club as an actor, director and stage manager from 1979 until 1986. He was also our Secretary from 1982 to 1984 and was a major architect in the redrafting of the club's constitution. Club members and audiences will recall with great pleasure his performances in plays such as Dear Brutus, Confusions, The Comedy of the Marks, I Remember Mama, The Long Christmas Dinner, Mixed Doubles, The Fall and Redemption of Man and The Hollow. But most of us would agree that David's most memorable performance was as the inebriated photographer in J.B. Priestley's When We are Married at the Churchill Theatre in November 1983.
